Vacation!

woehoe! time for a short vacation!

i've made a luggage rack for the Digger..
and it needed fresh sparkplugs, so in the week before i ordered some...
and jups.. they weren't delivered. crap! they are hard to find and i didn't want to ride long distances with a half fouled plug without spares..
so Daddy Cool went into the garage and the trusty XJ could become the packmule.

ah well... some rain, some sun a lot of riding...
a good weekend!

updates?

yeah, well. updates...
shoot me and the blogger app to!
i just lost my recent posts.

so to make it up a little, i'll make a short recap.

night ride.

as it was a nice warm Friday night, we opted to take a midnight ride.
there's nothing better than driving in the middle of the night through the silent countryside.
no traffic just calm and open roads. try it and enjoy!

Toxic woos

although the project has been idle for over a year i started building Toxic in cafe racer style.
the initial plan was a dual front head setup, but time and money made that idea go in the drawer for now.
so the engine could be rebuild in "normal" setup again, with some minor head work.

also minor fuck ups are part of the game...
i forgot to put the bolt back that connects the head to the frame.. and with the engine build i can;t put the bolt back.. so the engine has to come out.

cams back in, and these cams are why the '87 evo sportster is faster than his newer brothers.(including 1200's) the cams have bigger lift on the exhaust compared to later models. in and out have the same lift and duration.

i also made up some handlebars of crap i had laying around.
it doesn't look like it, but it's actually six pieces.

also i changed the tank plan, the same tank will be used but i took the easy route.
from this idea: (which would give me almost 27 liters of fuel) (and a great way to fuck up a big sheet of stainless metal when you ditch it)
to the easy way out which will give me 19 liters of fuel:

and yups, there is a fuel sender laying around.

and after many thoughts i'll go with this taillight setup, it has running, braking and indicator lights all in one.

White ride.
peter pan has a white bike since he liked daddy cool so much.
and we opted to ride our white bikes and make some pictures of the white thunder and bee.

Daddy not so cool.

Daddy Cool had a sticking valve. but as always it managed to limp back to the Garage.
with an awful rattling noise and no power from the front cylinder...

after opening the front head i suspected to see hell with bend valve stems, shot pistons and damaged cylinders..

i was in luck! valve stems were straight as an arrow, the intake valve just slightly brushed the piston and did no damage.
so i did some work on the guides, lobbed the valves and seats cleaned the whole shabang up, closed the head again and ride like hell again..

that should do the trick for your update needs!

o yeah... i have a little weekend trip ahead of me with the digger. normally i'll tie my stuff to the back seat, but this will be a 2-up trip, so i have a human on the back seat instead of my stuff..
so i have to figure something out to carry all the stuff..

there you go!

found this on the interwebs.. don't know who made it though, but saw it at preachers tumblr.

quick RatCafe

as the LTD Thijs got from me was boring as hell, we started to "customize" the bike into a cafe racer.
with absolutely no budget i had to do with the parts already on the bike.
some shorter shocks from Thijs his savage and the rear fender of the savage. (who was at that point already on the LTD)
so as Thijs changed the shocks i got out the knife and remodeled the seat to give it more of a cafe racer style. we put the buckhorn handlebars upside down and within 3 hours the RatCafe "Trusty" was born!

why Ratcafe you might ask? a rat bike is a rusty bike which looks like it has no maintenance in his life, has seen all the roads in the world and is held together with ducttape and other stuff..
since the bike is one big rustbucket it is a rat bike, and it looks like a cafe racer.. so.. ratcafe!

"X" marks the spot.

"American eXpress" strange bike, but i love the effort and details!

found it on the interwebs.
if you know more about the bike shoot me a message.

spice it up!

just to spice things up, and apologize for my long time not posting:

(there's a sportster somewhere in the picture)

and my keyhanger:

Wednesday, May 9

still nothing much.

i still can't find the power and. such... to get into the garage and work on my bikes..
sorry..
i needed something different to clear my head.
so i thought about something that would make do something completely different and still has something to do with the blog. (i'll explain that later..)

i build a quadcopter.. wtf? you might say?
it's a radio controlled helicopter type of thing.. but different.
so during the build i had my mind set to programming, soldering, debugging, air dynamics and what not.. ow and learning myself to fly..
man i tell you, it's nice to do something else for a change.
now what is the benefit for this blog?
it's an aerial camera platform! so i can make video's from the air and give you even nicer video's!
also the chip of the quadcopter (the brains so to say) is an AtMega chip, and that chip is (roughly) the same  as a ecu chip... so once i learned myself programming that chip, i can start learning myself how to program EFI systems for HD's.. win win situation!
some pics of the quadcopter.

some vids..

now i have to train myself into high speed flying and following driving bikes, but i will get the hang of it i hope! LOL

ow and to keep it all bike related:

Thursday, February 9

it's cold!

inside the Garage... real cold...
the heater had been on for a solid 4 hours on max..... and the temps were still below zero..
although i like the winter wonderland and the air is nice and dry with these temperatures, i'm done with these cold temperatures. i just can't get myself to do a lot in the Garage..
but i'm addicted to building.. so i will slide on some extra thick socks and i will try to do something in the garage..

wish me luck..

sporty trikes

to be honest.. i don't like these (sportster) trikes, but i thought i would share this with you all.
i like to chop, hack and cut frames and parts, and hate bolt on shit.
but the boys at Trikeworks have just done that! these sportster trikes can be build without cutting anything!
it's just a bolt on rear end..... so for the RUBs who do not want to void their warranty (pathetic), and still have done something else to their 48, Nightster, Iron or whatever blubbermount sporty they might have. it's all reversible!
and if you cough up enough dough, the Toxic Garage can do it for you within 3 hours! (1 if i can use my grinder!)
nah, just kidding.. it's a bolt on thing... we don't do Fucking bolt on!

i guess it look all better if it had smaller wheels and a little longer wheelbase, and if i can Chop that Fucking Sportster!

Friday, October 28

occupied..

alright, i'm a bit in a pickle here..
all of this:

still has to become a complete bike before the BigTwin bike show next Thursday.
and i only have the Wednesday right before that Thursday to make that pile of parts into Daddy Cool again.
ow shit.. that will be an all nighter to finish the damn machine.
i had planned to do the job last week but i got occupied. the FrankenPan (European) gave some grief again.
an coolant manifold leaked and later on broke. and just to give me some more pleasure it was the one the was the hardest to get to.
things to remove: fairing (a shitload of plastic), fake fueltank, air filter box, air box, carbs, the actual fuel tank, cables, some rubber covers and after all that work..

the whole shabang had to go back again.. and i'll be damned, it wouldn't go easy. carbs in double "V" will not cooperate into the manifolds. and the airbox thought the same. so i ended up taking the carbs apart to fit the airbox to the carbs and after that fighting the whole setup as one part back on the manifolds.
needless to say... it took the whole day... the day that was planned for Daddy Cool.
a well.. one built day remaining!
