updates?

yeah, well. updates...
shoot me and the blogger app to!
i just lost my recent posts.

so to make it up a little, i'll make a short recap.

night ride.

as it was a nice warm Friday night, we opted to take a midnight ride.
there's nothing better than driving in the middle of the night through the silent countryside.
no traffic just calm and open roads. try it and enjoy!

Toxic woos

although the project has been idle for over a year i started building Toxic in cafe racer style.
the initial plan was a dual front head setup, but time and money made that idea go in the drawer for now.
so the engine could be rebuild in "normal" setup again, with some minor head work.

also minor fuck ups are part of the game...
i forgot to put the bolt back that connects the head to the frame.. and with the engine build i can;t put the bolt back.. so the engine has to come out.

cams back in, and these cams are why the '87 evo sportster is faster than his newer brothers.(including 1200's) the cams have bigger lift on the exhaust compared to later models. in and out have the same lift and duration.

i also made up some handlebars of crap i had laying around.
it doesn't look like it, but it's actually six pieces.

also i changed the tank plan, the same tank will be used but i took the easy route.
from this idea: (which would give me almost 27 liters of fuel) (and a great way to fuck up a big sheet of stainless metal when you ditch it)
to the easy way out which will give me 19 liters of fuel:

and yups, there is a fuel sender laying around.

and after many thoughts i'll go with this taillight setup, it has running, braking and indicator lights all in one.

White ride.
peter pan has a white bike since he liked daddy cool so much.
and we opted to ride our white bikes and make some pictures of the white thunder and bee.

Daddy not so cool.

Daddy Cool had a sticking valve. but as always it managed to limp back to the Garage.
with an awful rattling noise and no power from the front cylinder...

after opening the front head i suspected to see hell with bend valve stems, shot pistons and damaged cylinders..

i was in luck! valve stems were straight as an arrow, the intake valve just slightly brushed the piston and did no damage.
so i did some work on the guides, lobbed the valves and seats cleaned the whole shabang up, closed the head again and ride like hell again..

that should do the trick for your update needs!

o yeah... i have a little weekend trip ahead of me with the digger. normally i'll tie my stuff to the back seat, but this will be a 2-up trip, so i have a human on the back seat instead of my stuff..
so i have to figure something out to carry all the stuff..

Robin

Robin, a friend of mine who is a great tattoo artist and airbrusher his Dragstar is finaly finished!
his first ride was to work and to show off!

Seat

Time to make something to rest my ass on!
Some nice "tuck n roll" fake leather.
And again thin padding. Just how i like it!

quick RatCafe

as the LTD Thijs got from me was boring as hell, we started to "customize" the bike into a cafe racer.
with absolutely no budget i had to do with the parts already on the bike.
some shorter shocks from Thijs his savage and the rear fender of the savage. (who was at that point already on the LTD)
so as Thijs changed the shocks i got out the knife and remodeled the seat to give it more of a cafe racer style. we put the buckhorn handlebars upside down and within 3 hours the RatCafe "Trusty" was born!

why Ratcafe you might ask? a rat bike is a rusty bike which looks like it has no maintenance in his life, has seen all the roads in the world and is held together with ducttape and other stuff..
since the bike is one big rustbucket it is a rat bike, and it looks like a cafe racer.. so.. ratcafe!

still alive.

dangit! i had some rough times and some good times. all that's important is that i'm still here! granted, i have been awfully quit on this blog for the last year, and i also have been scary little in the garage. some of the rough times were that all my tools got stolen. the tools i collected in the past 18 years were gone. and since i collected them in 18 years i had not much proof for the insurance to claim enough to get my tools replaced. this my friends was such a bummer i stayed out of the garage for way to long. so not much work on bikes and not one spanner on my own bikes. i have ridden a lot with the digger though..

also the XJ got his needed miles at high speed. ;)

Peter Pan (you know the dude with the franken pan (european) scored a nice little suzuki but it looked like crap. he is in love with Daddy Cool (the digger) and wanted a quick fix.
so with a little grinder action and white paint he was satisfied for the time being.

i promise i will try to ride and share more of these rides and build more on my bikes! i'm back! and i'll keep on riding and chopping!

hope to see you soon on the road or the blog!

still nothing much.

i still can't find the power and. such... to get into the garage and work on my bikes..
sorry..
i needed something different to clear my head.
so i thought about something that would make do something completely different and still has something to do with the blog. (i'll explain that later..)

i build a quadcopter.. wtf? you might say?
it's a radio controlled helicopter type of thing.. but different.
so during the build i had my mind set to programming, soldering, debugging, air dynamics and what not.. ow and learning myself to fly..
man i tell you, it's nice to do something else for a change.
now what is the benefit for this blog?
it's an aerial camera platform! so i can make video's from the air and give you even nicer video's!
also the chip of the quadcopter (the brains so to say) is an AtMega chip, and that chip is (roughly) the same  as a ecu chip... so once i learned myself programming that chip, i can start learning myself how to program EFI systems for HD's.. win win situation!
some pics of the quadcopter.

some vids..

now i have to train myself into high speed flying and following driving bikes, but i will get the hang of it i hope! LOL

ow and to keep it all bike related:

fuck them manifolds!!

hours and hours and hours have i spend on the manifolds for the XR883 evo build... the front one had been giving me headaches and clearance issues each and every time..
now the front one is actually how i didn't really want it.. but i have enough leg clearance and that was paramount to me.. so.. now i have one carb pointing forward and one sticking backward.. but like this it will stay!

now to make a throttle linkage, a enrichner linkage and find suiting airfilters and try to fab up an adapter plate for those filters.. so.. the intake part is still not done..

on a lighter note.. i tried another tank... i really like the lines and flow.. but if i want it to work i have to make a new tunnel and make a new side panel to make room for the carb..

at first i thought.. fuck it.. i will just go with the sportster tank.. but more and more the tank is pulling on me, and i guess i have some tank cutting and welding in the near future for me..
ow.. some of you might have guessed where the tank is from.. it's the gas tank of one of the XS Bro's (the yammy XS400's i got my hands on recently) and if i nick the tank of one bro, i guess i can steel the big round headlight of the other!

also i made up my mind about the oiltank and exhaust route.
the oiltank will stay stock at the stock location and the exhaust will not be in the tail section. the tail will house the battery and some storage room.
there... mind made up!
......but my mind chances almost as often as the weather out here....
